Arlene Buchholz, 74, of Vermillion, SD passed away Wednesday, March 14 at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls.
Arlene Johnson was born February 27, 1944 in Avon, SD to Edward and Elsie (Pudwill) Johnson. Arlene attended rural schools in Avon and married Virgil Buchholz on March 12, 1961 in Avon. Arlene worked as a nurse’s aide at the Sanford Vermillion Hospital.
She is survived by her two sons; Dale (Kelly) of Avon and Jimmy of Vermillion, and a daughter Janice (Doug) Hays of Sanai, SD, two brothers; Nilus (JoAnn) Johnson of Mitchell, SD and Tim Johnson of Avon and also two sisters; Wilma (Maynard) Schnabel of Gregory, SD and Karen (Gary) Sedivey of Vermillion. She is also survived by two sisters in law; Josephine Buchholz of Tripp, SD and Kathy Buchholz of Sioux Falls and six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Virgil, a sister Mary Ridgeway and a brother Lester Johnson.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Monday, March 19 at the Grace Baptist Church in Vermillion with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at 3:30 PM at the Danzig Cemetery rural Avon, SD.
