Obituary for Ronald James "Skip" Graff

Ronald James "Skip" Graff
Ronald James (Skip) Graff passed away on December 3, 2017 at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD.
Skip was born in Lincoln, Nebraska, on June 4, 1944. He graduated from Irene High School in 1962 and from Augustana College in 1967. Ron married Dori Albertson in 1979. They were later divorced.
Skip and his brother Bob were the fourth generation of Graffs to be involved in the grain business. Skip was the owner of D&S Applications and was affiliated with the Riley Company in Irene for more than fifty years.
Skip was an avid supporter of the Augie football and basketball teams. Serving a meal to the football team became a yearly tradition for Skip and his pheasant poppers were a pre-game treat for many Viking fans.
Skip was honored to receive several Augie awards. In 1981 he became a Fellow of Augustana College. In 1995 he was given the President’s Award. Skip was the recipient of Augie’s Milt and Clara Harvey Award in 2006 and in 2013 he received the Larry Borgum basketball award.
Skip’s Viking loyalties only pertained to Augustana Viking sports. He was an ardent supporter of the Green Bay Packers and was proud of a certificate listing him as a shareholder.
Skip had a passion for hunting and hosted numerous groups at the farm in rural Irene. He loved a crisp fall day, the camaraderie of the hunt, and the performance of a good hunting dog. Lexi and Sam, his latest golden companions, will miss him.
Skip was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Donna Graff. Surviving him are his sisters Cathy (Dave) Sorenson, Pat (Bob) Clark, brother Bob (Patty) Graff, niece Cammy (Tyson) Theeler and Maya, nephew Zach (Liza) Clark and Kenzie and Izabelle, step nephews Brian (Danielle) Dubois and Brycen, Skylar, Landon, Torie, Tucker and Corbin, Brandon (Angie) Dubois, and Kaylin and Benjamin, Bradley Dubois, aunts JoAnn Cable and Barbara Jones, and numerous cousins and friends.
Please, no flowers. Memorials may be designated to Augustana University, Hillcrest Cemetery, the Irene Community Building, or the donor’s choice.
